History of Temple

A letter by  Dr. J. Ramanaiah, a well-known Historian from the region

on the history and construction of the temple

Allipur is an ancient village of Raikal mandal in Karimnagar district.  It is said thatLord Sri Rama had a sojourn here when he was passing when he was passing through Dandakaranya in Threthayuga. The existence of a village by name of Ayodhya only at a distance of 1Km from here is a testimony for its antiquity.

Allipur has glorious historical significance for the past thousand years. There is a Chalukyan Trikuta Temple built during the 11th century at Raikal, which is only 10Kms from here. There is Dubba Rajeshwara Swamy temple in the east at a distance of 6kms at Konapur and very near to it there is Pulastheswara temple at Polasa, where an inscription on a stone pillar was  perched by King Meda Raja the frist in1108 AD. which also reveals the historical importance of this region.

The worship of Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu were in vogue in this regions evidenced by the existence of Vof Venugopala temple and Pulathesswara temple at Polasa, Mallikarjuna temple at Mallampet and Trikuta temple at Raikalin which the deities of Shiva, Chenna Keshava and Surya are installed.

The workship of Shiva and Vishnu were in vogue even at Allipur.  A deity of Vaishnava cult was noticed on a big rock lying  on a mound in the field of Panthulu Balay Ramaiah existing adjacent to the cart-track leading from Allipur to Jagtial. A large number of people including the local villagers have been worshipping this Vishnu deity performing several Vrathas, Keshakhandana, Nam karanas and various other rituals.

Recently, Dr. Balay Ishweriah, the grandson of Late Balay Ramaiah has undertaken the stupendous work of the construction of a temple for the shelterless deity. Protecting the old rock of the deity as itis, the new temple facing east is raised beautifully in modern architectural style as per the norms of the vasthu shastra and it has been graciously dedicated to the people of Allipur village. It is important to note that the main idol of Lord Venkateshwara is brought from T.T.D. Devasthanam of Tirupatii and it is installed as per Vedic tradition with the chanting Veda mantras performing yagnas with homagundas in which sacred fire was raised.

The sthalapurana states that the sacred rock with the deity was surrounded by a forest when the saints and sages worshipped this deity and their pranic stories are still revealed by the local villagers. This sacred rock containing the three Namas, the well know mark of Lord Vishnu has been worshipped for centuries together by the people who were  passing by the same way which led them to Jagtial through an old track touching the tank bund of Kandlepelly, which is now closed as the new B.T. roads were laid recently.  The importance of the place spread far and wide by the people who visited and passed by the sacred spot. Thousands of people have been visiting the holy spot every year. They also worshipped the big Banyan tree and the big Neem tree, which were standing by the sacred rock. As a student Balay Ishweriah used to pass by the same way in his childhood. He used to get inspiration and offered his prayers often to this sacred rock to score better marks in his childhood. In the daily partition Balay Ishweriah got this field to his share.  On the advice of elders, the two big trees were uprooted and this jubilant temple is erected in that place radiating new forms of art and architecture.

People not only from Karimnagar district but also from the neighbouring districts of Nizamabad and Adilabad have been visiting this holy place to worship the deity.  The Chattada Vaishnava Pujaris continued worship and performed rituals as needed by devotees from olden days. There is a temple dedicated to Yellamma deity where the same devotees visit and give sacrifices of animals and make festivity in the vicinity of both the holy spots.

It is a matter of great pride, pleasure and privilege that the deity of Lord Venkateshwara is installed with full grandeur performing all the Vedic rituals as guided by our ancient scriptures. Dr. Balay Ishweriah spent lakhs of rupees for the erection of this edifice and he deserves all appreciation and admiration and it is equally significant that the temple has been dedicated to the Allipur village. Now it is the duty of each and every devotee to see that the temple is developed further in all spheres attracting the devotees in a large number and turning it into a tourist spot.
